Come

Years of isolation. Years void of human contact. Years of being shunned, disdained, ostracized. He heard the stories of Jesus and there was a glimmer of hope. This sounds to good to be true. I can be healed, no strings attached. So he makes his way to the Healer. Humbling himself, begging, falling on his knees, he pleads, “If you are willing”. He had no concept of grace. No idea of how good this Healer man really was. He had no clue he knelt before God, the great I Am.

When Jesus saw him, He was moved with compassion. One translation says Jesus was indignant – annoyed because the enemy had wreaked havoc on this man’s life for years. So in true Jesus fashion, He gave this man more than he asked for. He touched him. He healed not only his body, he healed his soul.

Have you faced years of devastation? Are there areas in your life where the enemy has wreaked havoc? Are you desperate for a healing, a restoration, a financial miracle, a touch from God? Like this man you may not comprehend the goodness of God. You may doubt that the God of the universe is willing to heal your circumstance. But you do not need perfect theology, perfect faith or a perfect life to come to Jesus. Come with your doubts, come with your fears, come with your disbelief. Come with your sordid past and your tainted present. Just come. He is willing to give you more than you can ask, think or imagine.

“And a leper came to Him, begging Him and falling on his knees before Him, saying, “If You are willing, You are able to make me clean.” Moved with compassion [for his suffering], Jesus reached out with His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” The leprosy left him immediately and he was cleansed [completely healed and restored to health].”
