Who is Your Master?

Who is your master? Everybody has one. Who drives your emotions, your desires, your decisions? Who are you living to please or satisfy? Who is your master?

Is it fear? Are you making decisions out of fear of the future? Fear of lack? Fear of sickness? Fear of loneliness?

Is prosperity your master? Are your decisions made because you desire to earn more and more money?

Is your flesh your master? Do you live to satisfy your carnal desires? Is your goal to prevent your flesh from feeling uncomfortable in any way?

Is food your master? Drugs? Sin?

Here is the good news, when you accepted Christ as your savior, all of the things that vie to be your master, lost their power over you. It was as if you were locked in a prison but when you accepted Christ as your Savior, the door was unlocked. However, you will remain in prison until you realize the door has been unlocked and you have been set free.

Romans 6 is clear. Sin – fear, greed, gluttony, drugs, selfishness, lust, anger – are no longer your master. You have been set free. The prison door has been unlocked. You can come out of your prison cell, the warrant for your arrest has been destroyed, and you are declared righteous. You are now free to live a life where your only Master is God (and He is inviting you to be a friend).

“For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.”
