Where Will You Turn?

King Hezekiah was being threatened by the King of Asyria. Asyria was a mighty nation and had subdued many lands. So this threat was real and imminent. So what was King Hezekiah’s response? He prayed. He sought the Lord God Almighty.

What is your response to danger? Fear? Worrying? When we think of the dangers facing our country, who are we trusting? A man? A woman? A political party?

When God responded to King Hezekiah, he didn’t say: “Because you voted for the right person” or “Because you signed a petition” or “Because you attended the right church” or “Because you were faithful with your daily devotions”. No, He said, “Because you prayed.”

What is threatening your peace today? What is challenging the call of God for your life? Perhaps your response should be to pray.

“Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord. And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord:

Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria,”
