The Land I Love

I love America. I do. I just returned from India and it definitely gave me a greater appreciation for my country. But America is in trouble. We have racial unrest, political unrest, social unrest. Has there ever been an election in our history where the majority of people want to choose none of the above? Our land needs healing.

The healing we need will not come from an election. It is not associated with a political party. It cannot be legislated. The solution is found in God’s word. “God’s people humbling themselves, repenting, and praying.”

As Christians we need to begin by humbling ourselves before God. Stop praying our agenda, for our political party, for what we perceive as the solution and begin to ask God for His wisdom, His desires for our country. Humble ourselves and pray for the prosperity of the country even if our candidate is not elected. Pray that our leaders have wisdom, speak fondly of them even if we disagree with them.

We need to repent. We need to repent for being silent at social injustices, we need to repent for racial injustices. We need to repent for 11:00 am on Sunday being the most segregated time of the week. We need to repent for the political spirit that has entered into our churches and our hearts. We need to repent for the belief that one political party can save us.

We need to pray. We need to declare God’s will be done on earth as it in heaven. We need to call out to God on behalf of our beautiful country.

Will anyone join me? Pray for America. Not your candidate. Not your political party. Not your agenda. But America.

God bless America, land that I love. Stand beside her and guide her through the night from a light up above.

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.”
