Speak to the Storm

While attending a church service in Mexico a couple of weeks ago, it started to rain. This church was a beautiful building but very open. As the rain began to fall, the noise became a disruption and made the sermon difficult to hear. Pastor Bryan, my pastor, spoke peace to the rain and it immediately subsided.

There is a song we sing in Christian circles called, “It Is Well.” The lyrics read, “The waves and the wind still know Your (God) name.” I was listening to that song one morning and the Lord said to me, “It’s time the wind and the waves know my children’s names as well.”

This week, my daughter, four of her friends, and I are spending three days at Oak Island. Prior to coming, we were keeping a close eye on the weather. As of Sunday, my weather app predicted rain everyday of our stay. But I have been declaring sunny days for the last week.

Monday, when we’re about ten miles from our destination it began to rain. But my daughter and I kept declaring beautiful weather. By the time we reached Oak Island, the weather was perfect! Blues skies and a slight breeze. It made for a perfect day on the beach.

But the forecast still predicted rain the remaining two days of our stay. But we kept declaring, “sunny skies”. I checked my weather app Monday night and the forecast was thunderstorms throughout the day Tuesday and Wednesday. When I awoke Tuesday and checked my weather app, a sun ☀️ icon was displayed for Tuesday. And yesterday we had another beautiful day.

Last night I checked the forecast for Wednesday. After days of saying Thunderstorms, it said partly cloudy. This morning a sun ☀️ icon had replaced even that.

If my pastor can speak peace over the rain in Mexico, and I can declare good weather for my vacation, you can speak peace into your life’s circumstances. The same God who dwells in Pastor Brayan, who dwells in my daughter, who dwells within me, is the same God within you.

What storms are raging in your life today? What has you anxious? God is inviting you to introduce the winds and the waves looming over your Life to the Jesus within you, to the resurrecting power that dwells within you. It’s time they knew and feared your name as well.

“But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8:26-27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Full disclosure. Monday, after a beautiful day at the beach and a gorgeous evening out for dinner, we got caught in a horrific thunderstorm as we drove back to where we were staying. But we made it home safely and it did not interfere with our vacation.
