He Is There

Does sin separate us from God? This is another thing that I have heard all my life and now I am questioning. The thought comes from a verse in Isaiah:

“But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.” (Isaiah‬ ‭59:2‬ ‭NASB‬‬)

But as Paul Harvey use to say, we need to hear the rest of the story. God was displeased with our separation so He sent a Savior. He sent a redeemer. He sent His son clothed in righteousness, crowned in salvation, and wrapped in zeal to bring us forever close. He put His Spirit within us and gave us an amazing promise that His Spirit would never, ever, depart from us.

Does our sin separate us from God? Absolutely not. Did you mess up yesterday? His presence is there. The Psalmist said, even if I make my bed in hell, He is there. One of His names is Jehovah Shamah, the God who is there.

My friends, don’t believe the lie of the enemy that God has turned his back on you. That He is holding you at arms length waiting for you to get your act together. He is in the middle of your mess, the middle of your pain. Behold Him. Receive His redemption, His restoration, His love, His forgiveness. God is right there with you.

“”A Redeemer will come to Zion, And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” declares the LORD. “As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from now and forever.””
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭59:20-21‬ ‭NASB‬‬
