Be Different

I am beautiful. I am a collaboration of the trinity. My beautiful brown skin was not a mistake or an accident. Nor was my gender. No, I was created in the image of my Father. I was made in His likeness. I was designed by the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I was in no way created to be inferior or less than or not as smart as, because everything my Father created is excellent. Therefore, I am excellent.

I am unique. One of a kind. I was not massed produced. I was customized. Just as I was given a unique set of fingerprints, I was also given a unique part of God’s glory no one else on this planet carries. I was born for a purpose no one else can fill. My voice is unique. My story is different. I am the only one who can share my expression of God.

I have a purpose. No one else can fill the purpose for which I was created. I am a piece of a massive jigsaw puzzle called the human race and while in my mother’s womb I was created to fit into a particular place.

Please don’t read this as a narcissistic rant. But as a revelation that each of us were custom made by the Father. We are each a collaboration of the trinity. We are all beautiful. Read this as an invitation to embrace your uniqueness. Read this as a rally call to stop trying to fit into other people’s ideas of what you should look like, how you should behave, or what your purpose is. Read this as an exhortation to see God’s glory in every person on this planet – the Muslim, the Jew, the co-worker who gets on your last nerve, the political candidate from the other party, the drug dealer, the addict, the homeless, the person from a different ethnic group than you. We all carry a part of His glory, for we were all made in His image.

Diversity was and is God’s idea. He created us in varying hues to display His majesty and His glory. God does not want a color blind society. He wants us to see and respect our differences. He wants us to behold the beauty inherent in each of us. He wants unity and unity can only be truly revealed amidst diversity. He wants each of us free to embrace our beauty, our individuality, our calling. He wants us to hold our heads high and go out and be the unique you, only you can be!
